Aiden's Baptism

Aiden and Greg were baptized on Sunday 11/14/2010. It was very nice, but hard to believe that it was actually my baby!! We were lucky enough to have our family and a few close friends there to share this very special day! Here are a couple of photos, the rest are on www.bodaiphotos.shutterfly.com and there is a video of the baptism on facebook.
Us with Aiden's Godparents, Bess and Andy.

Family Game night!

Last weekend the night before Aiden and Greg's Baptism we had a little Bodai family game night!
We played I think the longest game of Jenga ever, we had all but the top 2 rows were either one or two blocks and most of the bottom was only one block. It was a lot of fun!

A new first

Aiden started cooing a little today!! It is so cute. He's also smiling more and sometimes if you make kissing faces at him and kissy noises he'll try to pucker up a little!!

He's so cute!!!

Welcome baby Rachel Lee

On Sunday Oct 24th, a new cousin was born. Rachel Lee.

We got to meet her today, she is so sweet and adorable! I hope she and Aiden grow up to be very close, especially since they are so close in age!

Here's a sneak peek at our visit, more pictures at http://bodaiphotos.shutterfly.com/

1 month check up

I know what you're thinking! ONE MONTH ALREADY??? Yes, it is hard to believe by my baby boy is over one month old! (5 weeks and one day now)
Aiden got another great report from Dr Levy, everything is looking good and he is still a bit above average in height and weight, head is averaging out now!
My big boy was 10 lbs 7 oz, 22 1/4 inches long and his head was I believe 38 cm!

Halloween!

Aiden was a Monkey for Halloween, he even went to his first Halloween party!More pictures at http://bodaiphotos.shutterfly.com/

Meeting Great Grandma Rusty

A couple of weeks ago (sorry I'm behind) we took Aiden to meet his Great Grandma Rusty.
We had a very nice visit. Grandma really enjoyed spending time with Aiden and holding him.

Here comes tummy time!

Aiden's umbilical cord fell off yesterday!! Which means he can now have a real bath and tummy time.

We did have a little tummy time yesterday and he did pretty well, he was pushing himself up and picking his head up. It was very exciting!!

Tonight we will see how he does in a real bath instead of just a sponge bath!

Time flies!

WOW I can't believe Aiden is over 2 weeks old already!! He has been enjoying all the visits from his family and we welcome everyone to continue to come visit!!

Yesterday we got all dressed up and went out to heritage park for our first family photos/Aiden's newborn photos. I can't wait to see them! We should have a sample of them in a few days and then all of them in about 4 weeks or so! I will definitely post them once we get them.

It seems impossible but I think Aiden has grown already. He just looks bigger!! He is staying awake a little longer during the day. Usually between his 6pm and 9 pm feedings. He sleeps pretty well at night 5-6 hour stretches at the beginning of the night and usually 4hours after his 3am feeding. I am very happy with this.
He's smiling and laughing more and he loves to cuddle!
His umbilical cord hasn't fallen off yet hopefully soon so he can start tummy time.

More to come!

And then there were 3...

As you all know by now our baby boy Aiden was born last Thursday Sept 30th at 4:56pm. Aiden had a very rough start in this world but is doing very well now!!

On Wednesday Sept 29th (the day I had predicted) at just after 3pm my water broke. Greg ran around the house frantically (it was pretty funny)! We got to the hospital a little after 4. Because I was only having a few sporadic contractions and the Dr's knew I wanted to avoid pitocin as long as possible they allowed me to walk around and try to get things started naturally. By 9pm the contractions were pretty strong and regular. Then around 12:30 I wasn't progressing very well on my own and since my water had broken they started pitocin, I completely understand why they call it the pits!! It was awful, I was in pretty hard labor with no more then a few seconds to recover between contractions but I was still not progressing in dilation! So they stopped the pitocin as it wasn't helping and I was still not far enough along to have an epidural. By 4am I was finally able to get the epidural! And as my husband and everyone else says a whole new woman! By 8:30 am I was getting pretty uncomfortable again and still only dilated to a 5! So I got another boost of the epidural. Several hours later still not progressing they had me in all kinds of positions, I was basically on my head at one point!!

Aiden was never in distress so they were fine letting me go until about 3pm when I was checked again and had not progressed at all since 8:30 am. This is when I was told a C-section was inevitable! I was completely freaked out I had not prepared myself for this at all but because it had now been 24hrs since my water broke they had no other choice! I can't even explain the feelings I had, I felt like I had failed at giving birth! I mean women all over the world forever have done this, why can't I!

Finally at 4:30 they wheeled me down for my c-section and at 4:56 my beautiful baby boy was born. We didn't know what was wrong but we knew something had to be wrong, they never showed him to us they just whisked him out of the room within a second! Then it seemed like an hour went by before we heard him cry. Once we heard him everything was well with the world again. Later we found out that they had to use 2 forms of resuscitation on him as he had a large glob of mucus blocking his airway that came out when they removed the tool that was supposed to help him breath (but didn't at first). When a baby is born they test a bunch of reflexes and breathing, color and such, it's call the APGAR score, it's tested at 1minute, 5minutes, and 10 minutes past birth, the score is out of a possible 10. Aiden's scores were 2, 6 and 9. Thankfully there seems to be no problems at all, he had his first visit with the pediatrician on Monday and got two thumbs up!

When Aiden was born he weighed 8lbs 3 oz, when we left the hospital on Saturday he was 7lbs 14 oz and by Monday he was back up to 8lbs 6oz! He's a big boy, 21.5 inches long. All of his measurements are above average which is good. The Dr even said his hand movements are about 4 weeks ahead of schedule!!

We couldn't be happier or prouder of our baby boy, Aiden Rusty Bodai!

To induce or not to induce...

Last Friday we got the choice to either continue on naturally with the pregnancy and just keep being monitored by Nonstress tests twice a week or be induced today. Considering I'm not at the hosptial right now and I'm writing a blog we choose not to induce and just see the Dr today.

Today I was not given an option. If Mr Aiden does not show his adorable little self by Monday we will be induced on Tuesday. All NST's are showing everything is fine with him but the Dr does not want him to go to far past his due date, which is sunday 10/3/10.

So we still have to wait and see what happens but at least there is an end in sight!!

Happy Birthday Grandma Rusty!

Today is Grandma Rusty's 85th Birthday.

Happy Birthday Grandma, we can't wait to show her, her first Great Grandson!

Still a boy!

We had the ultrasound today!! Aiden is still a boy, and a pretty big boy at that! Yes I know I've already had 2 ultrasounds that both confirmed it's a boy but you never know!
So they took measurements of different parts of the body and averaged them. On average he's measuring the size of a baby of 37 weeks and 5 days, which isn't much off, we are 37 weeks 2 days. His head is measuring at 39 weeks, YIKES!!!

Overall the estimate on his weight is a little over 3200 grams which is just over 7 lbs. He is in position and very low.
We'll have to wait to see what the Dr says on Friday but I have a feeling he will be here before his due date.

Sorry no pictures this time, he's too smooched in there!!

37 WEEKS!!

Yes ladies and gentleman we have made it to FULL TERM!!!! If Aiden were born anytime now he should be able to thrive on his own!! These are words every momma to be waits to hear!!

These words are often followed by he's now the size of a WATERMELON! That's when you're brought back down to the reality of and I'm going to push him out of where???? Is it too early for my epidural?

We had a check up on Friday, to my disappointment I am not dilated or effaced at all, he's still plugged in there!!! On Tuesday I have to have an ultrasound to check his actual size, according to the Dr's measurements he's bigger then he should be for this gestational time! It could just be the measurements are off so they want to actually see his size. We'll see what happens at that point! So stay tuned....

9/11 and SPARTANS in the D

Well yesterday was quite and eventful day. Yesterday marked the 9 year anniversary of 9/11, a day I will never forget.
I remember it was the most beautiful morning, I was driving to EMU to work in the morning and then had afternoon classes, it was the first Tuesday of class in the fall semester of Junior year. I remember literally thinking this could be the most perfect day ever, the sky was blue, there were a few little marshmallow clouds around and the sun was shining so brightly, it was like a picture!!
When I was almost to work the morning show guys that I listened to announced that there was a freak accident in NYC a plane had just crashed into one of the towers of the world trade center. I thought OMG how awful, how could you just run into a building like that? Then just a few minutes later as I was getting ready to turn on to Anne St to park they said a second plane just hit the second tower, and all they could say is this doesn't seem to be an accident!
Then the pentagon and the plane in PA. Once I did get into work I immediately tried to call Greg who was stationed in Japan at the time and just getting ready to go to bed. It took a long time to get through to the base, I think over an hour! Once I did he was just hearing of the attacks!
I remember feeling so scared and so unsafe, you didn't know what or when something else was going to happen. It was the first time in my life I didn't feel safe in America! And now 9 years later I don't think anyone will feel the way they did before 9/11/01, that security is gone.
Kasey and I were both working that day and in the Eateries on the lower level was a big TV so we would go down there every once in a while to see what was new. The one time we went down we had only been watching for a minute or two when we saw the second tower fall live. I remember thinking and saying 'we are going to war'. I was so scared for Greg and for all the men and women in the military.
Classes were cancelled for the day and once our shift was over Kasey and I left campus and went back to her apartment to watch the president speak. My mom was in Grand Rapids on business so I had no one else to be with so Kasey took me in!!
It was the Sunday after 9/11/01 that I got the call from Greg that I had been dreading. I knew that he was stationed with the only forward deployed air craft carrier and they would always be first response, but when I got that call and heard him say "We are going and I can't tell you when or where but we are leaving" those were the scariest and longest seconds of my life! Then came the news that he would not be able to call or write or email while he was gone. I didn't know when I would hear from him again, it could be days or weeks or months. I believe it happened to be about 8 or 9 weeks later that I got an email, all it said was he was alive and ok and that he loved me. I was so excited to get word from him but couldn't figure out why he would be telling me he was alive, he was on an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean I thought he was pretty 'safe'. Turns out only a couple of days before this one of his shipmates had gone overboard and drowned. Some how I didn't hear anything about this and all of my wonderful friends and family had but somehow kept it from me, thank god! When I told everyone that I had gotten an email from Greg everyone was so happy and relieved and then they told me what happened!! It wasn't too long after that when Greg got moved to Bahrain and we could talk every once in a while again.
While I am so grateful to have that part of our life over with it is something that I will never forget!

In 2008 we went to NYC and of course went to Ground Zero, it is something you can't even begin to imagine until you see it!! Everything was still 2 enormous holes, there are cranes in these holes where the WTC once stode that just looked like tiny little toys someone threw in there. When we were there you could feel the lost souls all around you. At one point I started crying thinking of the tragedy and all the families who lost people they loved and it felt like someone grabbed and held my hand for a minute but there was no one actually there! I will never understand how people could commit these acts against innocent people and then say it is in the name of their god, I refuse to believe there is any god who would want people to kill others.

On a lighter note, we got to go downtown yesterday and see the only live Spartan game I'll get to see this year. With Little Mister on the way and to right in the middle of the season we decided after many many years to give up our MSU season football tickets. :( But when the opportunity come up to see them play in Detroit a mere 20 minutes away we said ok! It was cool but not the same as being at Spartan Stadium!

Saturday was also Greg's Diaper party!! A few of Greg's friends and family member's joined Greg at Hooters for some beer, wings, games and diapers!! When I got home Sunday morning there was a stack of boxes of diapers as tall as me and a few more on the floor!! Thank you to all who came out and brought Greg diapers so he is prepared for when Aiden get's here!! Again more pictures on facebook!

Born to be my Baby!

This past weekend a few of my closest girlfriends gave me a baby shower, the theme? BON JOVI of course!! It was so cute and such an original idea for a shower. I loved everything. Here are some pictures:

Kasey had a bunch of Onzies and bibs made up with Bon Jovi songs and ablum titles on them.

My lovely hostesses Jacki, Kasey, and Lis

The awesome cupcakes, they were sooooo yummy too!

And the backstage pass lanyards and CD favor!!

I had a great time. Thank you so much for throwing the shower for me girls and thank you so much to everyone who came out for it!!! You guys all ROCK!!

BABY SHOWER/33 weeks

Last Saturday was my big family/friend shower. It was so nice, everything was perfect. Here are a couple of pictures from the Shower, first you have the Diaper cake from Grandma Bodai, then Mommy, Daddy, and the Grandmas, and of course one of Mommy and Daddy! Thank you to everyone who came to the shower, we are so thankful for all the support and gifts as we start our new journey as parents!

Everything still seems to be going well, just still getting a lot of swelling in my feet and ankles, sometimes even in my legs. I hope it's just from the heat and humidity!
Next check up is next Friday the 27th, last time the Dr said he was measuring a little big but growing at the right amounts. My prediction is that he will be born on or around September 23rd, there is a full moon that day and it's just over a week before my due date, plus it's grandma's birthday so we would be ok with that!! I guess we will have to wait and see.

Baby morpher on The Bump

The Bump has a new tool, you can upload a picture of yourself and your spouse to see what you kids might look like!! Here's what we got!!

Everything's normal

Just got home from the Dr and for today, everything is normal, blood, BP, weight!!
So she will still monitor me for Preeclamsya and I need to relax and rest as much as possible but other then that I don't have to go back to the Dr's for 2 weeks!!!

On a funner note, I can't wait for my big shower this weekend, can't wait to see everyone. Then only 2 weeks till my little shower with some girlfriends!! I'm way more excited about these showers then I was about my wedding shower!! Baby stuff is much more fun, not to mention adorable!!

Very Annoyed

We went to the Dr's today and gained another 4 lbs (in 3 weeks mind you) and she is suddenly concerned, last time it was 9lbs (in 3 weeks) but no concern about that! Each visit I bring it up and she always says it's fine. Plus I've had a lot of swelling in my feet, again she said it's nothing to be concerned about it's normal with the heat and pregnancy. And my BP was 130/80, I'm typically in the 120's/80.
So they took blood and are checking for Preeclemsea (sp)!
Why is it that when I question these things it's fine but now it's not fine!!
She told me a few months ago that the average weight gain was between 25-35 lbs, I have 8 weeks to go and have gained 23lbs, I don't think that is so far out of the norm!!
So now I have to go back on Tuesday so they can check my weight and BP again!!

30 weeks and counting

Only 10 weeks to go!! Ahh is it ok to start to panic just a little!!
9 months sounds like such a long time but it's not, it has gone by in what seems like the blink of an eye!
I'm getting slightly nervous about the delivery but mostly about bringing Aiden home and not knowing what to do!! I'm sure that's normal, right?

This past weekend as I was hitting the 30 week mark, one of my closest friends since the 7th grade got married!! I am so happy for Bess and Andy, and also very honored that I got to be part of their day. I wish them many many years of happiness and lots of babies!! The wedding was exactly what Bess has always wanted, it couldn't have been more perfect for her!!

Here are some pictures from the wedding and they can also double as my 30 week pictures!

The whole wedding party

Is pregnancy an epidemic?

I know that is a crazy question but I personally know at least 12 or 13 women who are pregnant or who have given birth in the last 2 months.
Is it just me or does this seem unusally high?

2 out of 3 not so bad...

So I've made it to the 3rd trimester. The time has gone by so fast. Our little mister Aiden will be here before we know it!!
This weekend we have our child birth classes 7 hours on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. I think I'm going to feel a little overwhelmed by the end of the weekend. Really just hoping to get some useful information.
As promised here are new belly pictures, taken at 28weeks and 3 days!!

It's a start!

We have finally gotten to the stage where we got the baby furniture in the room and are starting to decorate it! The theme is vintage airplanes. It's still at the beginning stages as alot of things are on our registry (babiesrus.com) ;);) But here are some pictures of the start!

And the winner is....

We've picked a name for our little mister!!

And the winner is......
We have a few middle names narrowed down but are waiting to see when he is born to decide that!!

26 Weeks!!!

WOW I can't believe I'm already 26 weeks along, only 14 weeks (or 98 days) left before I get to meet my baby boy!!!

Little mister has been very busy practicing his jabs and kicks . It's still very surreal to feel him move around in there. Greg got to feel him move for the first time a couple of weeks ago. That was pretty cool.

We've been very busy working to get the house (especially his room) ready for his arrival, it's going pretty well, almost ready for paint then we can move his furniture in. The Grandparents bought us his crib and dresser/changing table. We are so thankful to all 3 of them for that!!! I can't wait until it all comes together.

Last week brought everyone's favorite glucose tolerance test!! So far no word from the Dr so I gues I don't need to take the 3 hour test. Usually if something is off in my blood they call with in 2 days and it's been a week now so I'm sure they have the results.

Next up on the pregnancy milestone list is the birthing class!! With everything going on with the basement flooding and all we waited a little to long to sign up. So now instead of taking classes where I will deliver we have to go to another hospital and instead of taking the 4 or 6 week course that is once per week, we have no other choice but a weekend crash course, 8 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday!! All of the other classes went past our due date!!
The pictures above are from last week, so I'm just about 25 weeks in them!! But it gives you an idea of how big the baby's getting!!

The Best News in a Long Time!!

On tuesday my mom had her 6 week follow up CT scan. She got the results today and the tumor has shrunk by 1/3 in just 6 weeks!!

They said it is the best resluts they've ever seen at 6 weeks!!!

We are so happy and hopefully at her next check in 3 months it is almost gone or gone!!!'

PS tuesday was also the 17th anniversary of when she had surgery on the lung cancer the first time!!!

A bit of a scare

Little Mister and I ended up in Labor and Delivery Triage yesterday!
In the morning while getting ready for work I had bent down to pick something up off the floor and when I stood up got a little dizzy, so I sat down thinking it would go away. The dizziness did not go away it only got worse, so I laid down, it got even worse. It felt like the room was spinning one way and I was spinning the opposite direction. Then I started to get very sick to my stomach. I finally go up and basically crawled along the wall and on furniture to my phone and called my mommy!! By the way what would we do with out our mom's?

Once I finally got someone at the Dr's office they said go to Labor and Delivery not the ER. At this point I start really freaking out, crying and basically hyperventilating because I don't know what's going on and I figured you don't go to Labor and Delivery until you are in Labor!! Plus the receptionist at the office had a major attitude about it all!!
So once my mom got to the house we went to the hospital where the very nice nurse explained that once you are past 20 weeks you go there instead of the ER in an emergency because they have the proper equipment to monitor the baby!!!

So after some blood tests and hearing little mister's heartbeat we were given the all clear, just have to take it a little slower!!!

Thank god that is over with!!!

Baby's first favorite song!

I don't know if anyone else does or did this while they were pregnant but I love to sing to my little mister, sometimes he'll even move around when we're singing but there is one song that I love to sing to him because I really feel like it says everything I feel about meeting him. When I sing this song to him even if he's been moving around like crazy, he's always very calm and still! I know the song was written about finding a love but I really love the lyrics for talking about what it's like trying to get pregnant! I know how incredibly lucky we were to get pregnant so quickly but those few months when the tests were negative we awful and I feel for anyone that has to go through that for any length of time! Maybe these lyrics will help someone else understand that it will all work out!! As Michael says "I guess it's half timin and the other half's luck"
"Haven't Met You Yet"
Michael Buble
I'm not surprised, not everything lasts
I've broken my heart so many times
I stopped keeping track
Talk myself in,
I talk myself out
I get all worked up then I let myself down
I tried so very hard not to loose it
I came up with a million excuses
I thought, I thought of every possibility
And I know some day that it’ll all turn out
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And I promise you kid that I give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet
I might have to wait,
I’ll never give up
I guess it's half timin and the other half's luck
Wherever you are, whenever it's right
You'll come outta nowhere and into my life
And I know that we can be so amazin
And baby your love is gonna change me
And now I can see every possibility
Somehow I know that it’ll all turn out
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid I'll give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet
They say all’s fair in love and war
But I won’t need to fight it
We'll get it right and we'll be united
And I know that we can be so amazin
And bein in your life is gonna change me
And now I can see every single possibility
And someday I know it'll all turn out
And I'll work to work it out
Promise you kid I’ll give more than I get
Oh you know it'll all turn out
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid to give so much more than I get yeah
I just haven't met you yet
I just haven't met you yet
Oh promise you kid to give so much more than I get
I said love love love love love love love
I just haven't met you yet

2nd Ultrasound!

We had our second ultrasound yesterday. Everything went well, he's right on track for size as he should be for is 'age'. He was also much more cooperative this time, they were able to get all the images they needed of his heart which they assured me looked good.

He even waved to us and we got to see him kicking his little feet around like crazy!!! It was so amazing! He really looks like a baby now, no more scary skeletor face! I think he'll be perfect!!

In the top picture you can see almost his whole body, his head is to the left of the photo. The bottom photo is a close up of his face, his hands are both up near his chin.

salsa anyone?

So little mister is really starting to move around. The other night it felt like I was holding salsa class in my belly!! I love feeling the movement now but at first it was really weird!!

21 week check up

We went to the Dr's this morning! Little mister was very active again! I think I'm going to have my hands full when he get's here. When we go to the Dr and she's trying to get the heartrate he is very active and wiggly but when we had the ultrasound he wouldn't move or turn over for us!!

Heart rate was good 144 BMP. I have a follow up ultrasound next friday so they can try to see his heart which they couldn't the first time. Then in 4 weeks I get to have the very yummy glucose test!! I've heard it's like drinking very sugary fanta orange pop! We'll see!

Oh and I gained 5lbs!! I know I shouldn't be stressed about it because that's the first I've gained but when you spend the majority of your life trying to lose weight and then you have to gain, 5lbs in 4 weeks seems like it's alot!! The Dr said it's fine but I'm still slightly stressed over it!!
Any thoughts from other moms?

It's been awhile!

Ok so it's been a bit longer then awhile since I posted!!!
So much has happened, good and bad.
The best thing that has happened is that I'm Pregnant!! I'm due October 3, 2010. We are having a little boy!! Greg is VERY excited to be getting a son!! I too am very happy and very excited. In the last week or so my belly has just popped out of no where!!!
Here I am at 20.5 weeks.

I'm feeling really good, I actually feel pretty normal, aside from the occasional back pain and numbness from when Little Mister lays on my siatic nerve!!
We have decided to keep names a secret until Little Mister arrives, partly because we want to see him before we decide! So until then we refer to him a Little Mister. Here are some ultrasound pictures of him.

His adorable little foot!

The scary view, when he looked right at us!!

Our Little Mister! He was very stubborn and wouldn't turn over, he stayed upside down the whole time!!

Needless to say we can not wait for our little one to get here, in the meantime we have to get his room ready!

I'll be posting more often now with baby updates!!
